Computer Science Fundamentals

The MiSTEM Network is supporting six virtual cohorts of CS Fundamentals Intro Workshops (K-5). Each participant will receive a curriculum guide, 12 SCECHs, and a $150 stipend.

Workshop Requirements - No prior Computer Science experience is necessary. This workshop does require that you have access to a digital device and the internet to join the virtual meetups. The virtual meetups do require participation and discussion, therefore we recommend that you have access to a microphone and webcam (most are built into laptops.

No Cost to Register - Registration Covered by MiSTEM Advisory Council Grants

Receive Code.org curriculum guide, understand the lessons, and learn how to provide CS to your elementary students.

SCRIPT workshops

SCRIPT workshops: Full district Computer Science visioning workshops hosted by MDE. Our MiSTEM region is willing to pay for sub costs for participating teachers, or a stipend for teachers if visioning takes place during the summer, and discuss future supports for curricula after visioning. Math Recovery

Applications are open to apply to take Add+Vantage MR Course 1 for free ($995 value) via USMRC Tuition Assistance program! US Math Recovery Council is a nonprofit organization, and our professional development is not linked to a singular curriculum.   

This course empowers teachers who support students in learning K-2 math standards. The course unpacks research-based learning trajectories and teachers learn diagnostic interview assessments in order to pinpoint students' current knowledge and strengths to build upon.  

Whether you are an interventionist, coach, or teacher, this course is for you and will help you to differentiate your instruction. Apply now as an individual or group via this short form (time needed 3 minutes)

More Math Recovery workshops coming in Summer 2023​

IMPACT (Improving Mathematical Performance for A-P Calculus Teachers) is a pilot cohort within MiSTEM Region 6 for ten teachers which includes professional learning and a Mock AP Exam for students.  

 

There will be two evening learning sessions from 4:30 - 7 PM at Genesee ISD’s Davis Building.

  • January 30 - incorporating College Board expectations into daily teaching

  • March 13 - exam review strategies
